The rainbow medallion symbolizes hope for many people in recovery from addiction. It also represents the unity of Narcotics Anonymous and its members. The rainbow colors represent the different stages of recovery, from white (newcomer) to purple (long-term member).
For some who are ALSO in the LGBTQ community, it can represent being free to be truly yourself while clean off mind-altering substances.
