Experience, Strength & Hope
Edited by Roger C.
Do Tell! brings together thirty powerful personal stories—an equal number by women and men—of atheists and agnostics who have found long-term sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous. Following AA’s storytelling tradition of sharing “what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like now,” these members show that recovery does not require belief in a supernatural deity.
For many, AA meetings can feel overly religious. This collection provides support, inspiration, and validation for nonbelievers, proving that the Twelve Steps and fellowship can work for anyone willing to engage with honesty, openness, and a commitment to change.
Roger C., in recovery from alcoholism, launched AA Agnostica in 2011, the first secular AA website with contributions from writers around the world. With over 700 articles, it has played a pivotal role in the growth of the secular AA movement. Roger has written, edited, or published ten books for people in recovery—especially those who don’t believe sobriety depends on supernatural intervention. A graduate of McGill University with a Masters in Religious Studies, Roger later founded a “We Agnostics” AA group in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
