Getting Off: One Woman's Journey Through Sex and Porn Addiction
Author: Erica Garza
A fixation on porn and orgasm. A string of failed relationships and anonymous hook-ups. Blackouts to numb the shame. These are not stories women often share publicly—yet Erica Garza tells hers with fearless honesty, eloquence, and deep self-reflection.
In Getting Off, Garza traces her search for freedom across continents, from East Los Angeles to Hawaii, Bangkok, and Bali, through brothels, yoga studios, and therapy sessions. What emerges is not a tale rooted in extraordinary trauma, but a raw, unflinching account of how ordinary pain, shame, and loneliness can spiral into addiction. With striking clarity, she reveals the fear and guilt that fueled her obsessions—and the exhilaration and hope she found when she finally glimpsed the possibility of change.
At once personal and universal, Getting Off expands the conversation around addiction, sexuality, and the impact of internet culture, offering “a profoundly genuine, gripping story that any reader can appreciate” (Vice).
