About the Author
Nellie Elizabeth Wing (1917–2007) served as Bill W.’s secretary and aide for 20 years and worked at the Alcoholic Foundation for 36 years. A graduate of Keuka College, she also served in the U.S. Coast Guard (1944–1946), earning the American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Remembered as AA’s first archivist, Nell Wing devoted her career to preserving and sharing the history of Alcoholics Anonymous.
