Meister Eckhart's Book of Secrets: Meditations on Letting Go and Finding True Freedom
Authors: Jon M. Sweeney & Mark S. Burrows
This elegant collection offers timeless wisdom from Meister Eckhart, the 14th-century Dominican friar and mystic whose teachings continue to inspire spiritual seekers across traditions. Carefully selected, translated, and reimagined by Jon M. Sweeney and Mark S. Burrows, these poetic meditations invite readers into the art of letting go, embracing paradox, and discovering the secret to true freedom.
Divided into five themes—Seeking the Light, Facing Darkness, Risking Love, Knowing Nothing, and Embracing Everything—the book serves as a guide to living authentically, finding inner peace, and learning that to truly find yourself, you must first lose yourself.
"I think Mark Burrows and Jon Sweeney achieve something quite rare and wonderful here. They make Eckhart clear, concise, and very compelling!" —Richard Rohr, OFM, bestselling author of Falling Upward
"These short poems, filled with the Dominican mystic’s insight and levity, will make for a fine introduction to Eckhart’s thinking." —Publishers Weekly
"Eckhart’s mystical musings lead toward an undoing, letting go of our need to manage our lives, freeing ourselves to seek this treasure." —Library Journal
"This superb new translation modernizes Eckhart's writings into short poems for contemporary seekers… a pathless path into true freedom." —Foreword Reviews
