Not-God
A History of Alcoholics Anonymous
Author: Ernest Kurtz, Ph.D.
Overview
Widely regarded as the most complete history of Alcoholics Anonymous ever written, Not-God offers a fascinating, fast-moving, and authoritative account of the birth and growth of the A.A. fellowship. Drawing from diaries, correspondence, and memoirs of A.A.’s early pioneers, historian Ernest Kurtz presents not just the story of a program, but the spirit of a movement that has changed millions of lives.
More than a chronology, this book delves into the struggles, breakthroughs, and human experiences that shaped A.A.—capturing its founders’ vision, its principles of humility and spirituality, and the development of its worldwide fellowship. Both scholars and those in recovery will find this an invaluable exploration of the roots of one of the most significant spiritual and social movements of the twentieth century.
