Overcoming Peer Pressure, Codependency, and the Fear of Man
Author: Edward T. Welch
Do you worry too much about what others think of you?
All forms of the fear of man share one thing in common: people become “big” in our lives. Their approval, opinions, or disapproval begin to control us. When people are big, God inevitably becomes small in our hearts.
In this groundbreaking book, Edward T. Welch reveals how people-pleasing, codependency, and the pressure to conform all stem from misplaced awe. True freedom, he shows, begins with seeing God as truly awesome and glorious — greater than any human voice. Welch offers practical and biblical steps to reframe your relationships, put God back in His rightful place, and live in genuine love rather than fear.
"Ed Welch is a good physician of the soul. This book is enlightening, convicting, and encouraging. I highly recommend it." — Jerry Bridges
"Need people less. Love people more. That's the author's challenge. . . . He's talking about a tendency to hold other people in awe, to be controlled and mastered by them, to depend on them for what God alone can give. . . . [Welch] proposes an antidote: the fear of God . . . the believer's response to God's power, majesty and not least his mercy." — Dallas Morning News
"Refreshingly biblical. . . . brimming with helpful, readable, practical insight." — John F. MacArthur Jr.
Edward T.
